Charlie Pearce, Castine, ME

Charlie Pearce was born and raised in California but grew up coming to Maine every summer to visit family and attend a canoeing camp. It was at camp where he met his wife Greer, whose family has been summering in Castine since the 1990s. Over the last 20 years, Charlie has developed an ever-deeper appreciation for the history and commitment to preservation that makes this town so special. In 2020 he cemented his love for this town and its history by moving into the circa 1830 Samuel Adams house on Main Street and has been an active member of the Castine Historical Society’s Building and Grounds Committee since 2021.

In his professional life, Charlie has been working remotely as the Director of Strategic Engagement at the Department of Economic Research for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He was previously appointed by Governor Charlie Baker as Director of Communications and Customer Outreach at the Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development in which capacity he received the Manuel Carballo Award for excellence in public service due to his work scaling and redesigning workforce systems to meet the challenge of the pandemic-driven unemployment crisis.

Prior to his work in state government, Charlie managed US Senate, gubernatorial, and ballot elections across the country. He also worked as a political operative and earned media consultant on four presidential campaigns, including as Trip Director to Governor Romney in 2012 where he traveled nearly every day with the candidate managing logistics. Charlie is a Registered Maine Guide and is currently attending the Harvard Kennedy School of Government where he is pursuing a Master in Public Administration degree with an expected graduation in May of 2023.
