Donate to the 2024 Annual Appeal

How do you invest for your future?  Many of you have retirement or savings accounts. Or perhaps you’ve put aside funds for your loved ones’ college education. No matter what you do, you invest in what you value the most.

Last year, thanks to generous Annual Appeal gifts, members and donors helped us raise a record $46,000 for this year-end fund.  These donations enabled us to organize three new projects.

This June we opened a new exhibition from our permanent collection, “A History of Castine in 40 Objects.” This thought -provoking exhibit used objects from our collection to tell the stories of Castine that enlightened and inspired residents and visitors.

Contributions also helped us design and implement a new curriculum for the Adams School 7th/8th grade: a groundbreaking African American history curriculum that debuted this fall. The curriculum encourages student-led inquiry and exploration into the lives and legacies of Castine’s 18th and 19th century African and African American residents.  This innovative curriculum continues the Historical Society’s commitment to examining our past to foster a more inclusive, empathetic, and informed society.

And thanks to these year-end donations, CHS advanced our mission to preserve one of our largest collection items – the 1850 Grindle House. This spring, we completed a two-year project to paint the Grindle House, thus continuing to preserve this important historic structure on Castine’s Town Common.

We hope you will continue to invest in what is meaningful to you by contributing to the 2024 Annual Appeal.  Your donation will serve as a catalyst to enrich and inspire both the young and the young at heart in the town we all love – Castine.

Please join us by giving generously to the 2024 Annual Appeal.
